DECEMBER 1 The Tree of JesseDo you know your mom’s name? Silly question, right? Most of us know who our mom is. Can you name one of your grandparents, or even a great-grandparent? All of those people are part of your family “tree.” Now, do you know who Jesus’ mom was? That’s right. It was Mary. We know about other people in Jesus’ family tree too. One of the biggest names is King David. King David was one of Jesus’ great-great-great . . . grandpas, and David’s father, Jesse, was a great-great-great-great . . . grandpa. (It’s really too many “greats” to count!) Because Jesus came from the family of Jesse, we sometimes call his family tree the “Jesse tree.” There are so many people in the Jesse tree! Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Ruth and Rahab. We can go all the way back to Great-Great-Great . . . Grandpa Noah! And even further back—to Adam and Eve! And many other people in the Bible had important jobs to do to keep God’s family safe until Jesus could be born—people like Joseph and Moses and Nehemiah. That’s a lot of names, isn’t it? The Bible tells us their stories, and we’re going to learn all about them as we prepare for Jesus’ birth at Christmas! We’ve also given you a Christmas ornament to go with each story. You can put those ornaments on your “Jesse tree”—either your normal Christmas tree or another kind of branch or tree. We hope the pictures on the ornaments will remind you of all these special people of God. What’s the Jesse tree? It’s all the people in Jesus’ family. As I hang the STUMP on the JESSE TREE, Here is an Advent promise for me: The Bible tells us about many of Jesus’ grandmas and grandpas—including Jesse. Through all these people, God kept his promise to send the Savior.

Bitcoinpaperwallet back Door Responsible For Millions In Missing Funds, Research SuggestsContent Tax Software Restoring A Cold Storage Wallet What Are Paper Wallets? Step 2: Sending Funds To Your Wallet Why Is This Considered Non Secure ? Check The Paper Wallets Balance Optional Remember to switch off your internet so that you are offline before doing that. Delete saved web page and now you can safely reconnect to the internet. This means that there are chances that it might get bruised or damaged via external stimuli. You can recover your money by using the restoration details that comes with each wallet if your wallet shuts down for whatever reason. This increased the adoption of crypto and opened financial markets to millions of people. Private keys are like passwords that give full access to your crypto tokens. It’s this fact – losing or damaging your paper wallet – that has made paper wallets less attractive as your primary or sole wallet of choice. Examples of mobile wallets include the Android-based Bitcoin wallet, Xapo, Mycelium, and Blockchain. Most transactions include the public key, required to validate the owner’s credentials and spend the bitcoin. Extended keys are stored and represented simply as the concatenation of the 256-bit key and 256-bit chain code into a 512-bit sequence. These are often repurposed bitcoin mining “rigs” that are no longer profitable for bitcoin mining but can be used to find vanity addresses. Vanity searches on GPU systems are many orders of magnitude faster than on a general-purpose CPU. In Chapter 1, we introduced Eugenia, a children’s charity director operating in the Philippines. Let’s say that Eugenia is organizing a bitcoin fundraising drive and wants to use a vanity bitcoin address to publicize the fundraising. Eugenia will create a vanity address that starts with “1Kids” to promote the children’s charity fundraiser. Let’s see how this vanity address will be created and what it means for the security of Eugenia’s charity. Tax Software If you have Exodus installed on your computer, you are using a desktop wallet. Someone could get access to your phone e.g. if you don’t have a password to unlock it and drain your mobile wallet of its funds. Select Import Address and scan the QR Code of the private key. I am Sudhir Khatwani, an IT bank professional turned into a cryptocurrency and blockchain proponent from Pune, India. Cryptocurrencies and blockchain will change human life in inconceivable ways and I am here to empower people to understand this new ecosystem so that they can use it for their benefit. But it’s important to remember that it’s not the Conceal coins that are being printed out like regular currency. It’s the information stored in a Conceal wallet or digital wallet that gets printed out. The data appearing on the wallet includes the public key , which allows people to transfer money into that wallet, and the private key, which gives access to fund spending. Thus, Conceal coins themselves are not stored offline, but the important keys are stored offline. A cryptocurrency wallet is very simple and it is one of the most popular options for keeping your bitcoins safe. This will change in the future, as multisig becomes standardized and easier for end-users to understand and use. But for now, a traditional custodian has an edge in transmitting wealth from one generation to the next. Like every other crypto service enabler, paper wallet providers must implement premium customer support systems that are accessible 24/7. Restoring A Cold Storage Wallet Without doubt, a paper wallet is the safest way to store any of your cryptocurrency such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. By following my guide in the next few paragraphs below, you can set one up if you feel that is the best solution for you and it costs nothing to set up. A paper wallet can ensure you have total control of your investment, and if the security precautions are followed, there is little possibility of your private keys being known by another party. Now, this means that keeping the paper wallet in a very safe place such as a safe or locked cabinet is important. Losing your private key means you will forfeit the entire contents of your wallet, but then again, it goes without saying that is the case for every crypto wallet out there. Funds can be spent by accessing the physical paper and entering the private key into a wallet. A quick guide on browser extension wallets – CNBCTV18 A quick guide on browser extension wallets. Posted: Tue, 27 Sep 2022 07:00:00 GMT [source] At its most basic level, Exodus provides a software interface for you to see the private keys that grant spending rights to the addresses where the funds are stored. You need to import the private key that is on the paper to a wallet on your computer. For example, you can import the key into a blockchain.info wallet and then you can send the coins normally. That is because sometimes if you import a private key it might be reused by the wallet app/web service and change is sent back to it. What Are Paper Wallets? The most common use case for BIP0038 encrypted keys is for paper wallets that can be used to back up private keys on a piece of paper. As long as the user selects a strong passphrase, a paper wallet with BIP0038 encrypted private keys is incredibly secure and a great way to create offline bitcoin storage (also known as “cold storage”). One common application of this solution is to install an extended public key on a web server that serves an ecommerce application. The web server can use the public key derivation function to create a new bitcoin address for every transaction (e.g., for a customer shopping cart). The web server will not have any private keys that would be vulnerable to theft. Popular hardware wallets include devices by Ledger and Trezor. However, as NFTs are not natively supported by either of these wallets, you will need to connect your hardware wallet to a hot wallet that’s capable of storing and managing NFTs. On the flip side, however, this means that users must be in charge of their own security, with regard to the storage of passwords and seed phrases. If any of these are lost, recovery can be difficult or impossible since they are typically not stored in any third-party server. The implication here is that users must trust the service provider to securely store their tokens and implement strong security measures to prevent unauthorised access. These measures include two-factor authentication, email confirmation, and biometric authentication, such as facial recognition or fingerprint verification. Many exchanges will not allow you to make transactions until these security measures are properly set up by the user. There are different reasons why an investor might want their cryptocurrency holdings to be either connected or disconnected from the Internet. Step 2: Sending Funds To Your Wallet Once the paper wallet is set up, the website code should be able to run offline, allowing the user to disconnect from the internet before actually generating the keys. Desktop wallets are downloaded and installed onto your computer, storing the private keys on your hard drive or solid-state drives . By definition, they are more secure than online and mobile wallets, as they don’t rely on third parties for their data and are harder to steal. A private key is a long, confusing string of random characters, while a seed phrase is a set of 24 random words that allows you to restore your private key. Like other wallets , your wallet contains private keys that access your wealth on the blockchain. But in the case of a paper wallet, it is made private and secure by hiding this slip of paper where no one can ever see it or peek at it online. You want to avoid that because if you assume you’ve spent all the coins in the private key and then you make the private key public and change is sent to it somebody could steal your coins. So to avoid all that you import into a temporary blockchain.info wallet and spend all the coins in one go. Use the import private key option or the scan with webcam option to import your paper wallet private key. This way you can easily make the best Litecoin paper wallet to store your Litecoin cryptocurrency safely. This is also one of the cheapest way to make Litecoin cold wallet but I will not recommend this method of LTC storage for everyone. Paper wallets also allow users the freedom to create backups in case they lose their original wallet- simply print out another copy! Also, paper wallets are durable as long as they are properly stored. The most important thing to know about paper wallets is that you don’t need any kind of internet connection for them to work. This means your Bitcoins are always accessible and can never be frozen, hacked or deleted by a third party. To rule out the risk of any spyware monitoring your activities, it is recommended that you use a clean operating system, such as Ubuntu, running from a USB flash drive or DVD. At times, users need to move keys from one wallet to another—to upgrade or replace the wallet software, for example. Private key backups might also be stored on paper or on external storage media, such as a USB flash drive. The Model https://xcritical.com/ T is a small cryptocurrency wallet that connects to your computer or mobile device with a USB cable. It has a small touch-screen display, which you use to enter your PIN code, confirm or reject transactions, and reset your device. Why Is This Considered Non Secure ? Think of the private key as the password protecting your bank cards or apps. You will agree that losing your bank password is detrimental to your funds, especially if it falls into the wrong hands. In the same way, you will lose access to your crypto if you either misplace your private keys or lose it to nefarious entities. However, unlike bank passwords, private keys are irretrievable. Hence, a compromised private key would automatically render the cryptocurrencies attached to it permanently inaccessible. One of the most popular variants of these solutions is paper wallets. In this section we will examine the different methods of key generation and the wallet structures that are built around them. Appropriate for generating production-quality bitcoin keys as it is not implemented with sufficient security. From the resulting 32-byte hash (hash-of-a-hash), we take only the first four bytes. These four bytes serve as the error-checking code, or checksum. Public keys derived from the master public key start with “M”. Therefore, the first child private key of the master private key is m/0. The second grandchild of the first child is m/0/1, and so on. Think of an extended key as the root of a branch in the tree structure of the HD wallet. Select Paper Wallet, and you will be presented with a stylized paper wallet as in the picture below. Since this article is for beginners, we focus on single and paper wallets, and we won’t be going into Bulk, Brain, Vanity, and Split wallets. This eliminates exposure to malicious threats online, and by deleting your temporary files and internet history to destroy any trace of the keys. Check The Paper Wallets Balance Optional It is possible to generate a bitcoin paper wallet online, but using an offline method provides better security. Visit a bitcoin paper wallet generator website, many of these offer a zip file which contains a copy of the website. For example,Bitaddress.orghas the download link at the bottom of the page. Remember to use a verified and reputed website for generating a paper wallet. Just to be clear, there is no such thing as Physical Bitcoin. In this model, the wallet stores sensitive details on the user’s computing device or entrusts this information to third-parties with cloud infrastructures. In both scenarios, the private key is how to start a forex brokerage not completely caught off from the internet. It is created using a program which randomly generates a private and public key. The keys are unique and the program generating them is open source. These digital keys are very rarely seen by the users of bitcoin. For the most part, they are stored inside the wallet file and managed by the bitcoin wallet software. A paper wallet is another example of offline cold storage for cryptocurrencies. Mnemonic phrases are used to display seeds in the form of a succession of words. This seed will be used to generate each Bitcoin key that you’ll need to transmit and receive Bitcoin. Another victim interviewed by CoinDesk lost 50.1 BTC in December. Instead, these mobile clients are often designed with simplified payment verification in mind and they download a very small subset of the blockchain. They also rely on other, trusted nodes in the bitcoin network to ensure that they have the right information. Atomic Wallet, Exodus, Jaxx, Edge and many others are some great desktop wallets. Exchanges and custodial wallet providers will usually also take further steps to ensure the safety of users’ tokens. For example, a portion of the funds is usually transferred to the company’s cold wallet, where they can be safe from online attackers. Remember, it is your responsibility to ensure your crypto investments are kept safe and not someone else’s. You will drastically decrease your chances of joining this number by minimizing the risks effectively.

Content How To Build A Chat App How To Build A Whatsapp Clone Without Code Api, Protocol Documentation Sending Messages Differences Between Ios And Android Differences Between Ios And Android We welcome all developers to use our API and source code to create applications on our platform. It requires almost no basic prior knowledge of Node.JS or Socket.IO, so it’s ideal for users of all knowledge levels. Therefore, it is necessary to optimize the software solution for stable operation even with an unstable Internet or without it. You also need to invest time in testing the reconnection and recovering all the data while working in the offline mode. A chat API and SDK solution reduces technical uncertainty and increases the odds that your app will launch successfully on time and on budget. Today’s chat apps must be accessible for users on a variety of device types and operating systems. These include iOS, Android, and web at a minimum, though desktop apps for Mac and Windows can be nice to have as well. Mova.io will help you to develop a stable application, design a stunning user interface design, test the app under different conditions. Besides, we will help you release the application to the store, and will provide post-release support, including app and back-end maintenance, and implementation of new features. And, of course, we will be glad to help you with the development of the app itself, testing it, releasing to the stores, and maintaining it after. How To Build A Chat App If you’re using an SDK solution that includes a chat UI kit, you can save time by customizing existing components or even using them as they come. Careful examination of what the following top chat apps do right — and where they fall short — should produce valuable insight to inform your own chat app build. WebSockets and Socket.io make up another popular approach to building real-time communication functionality like chat. Socket.io provides a browser-based JavaScript client library that connects to a Node.js server over the WebSocket protocol. Additionally, Socket.io does not offer additional features out of the box, such as data persistence. Failure to close a connection can cause resources not to be released by the JMS provider. Closing a connection also closes its sessions and their message producers and message consumers. A destination is the object a client uses to specify the target of messages it produces and the source of messages it consumes. The combination of free internet transmission and E2EE makes WhatsApp extremely popular for chatting with friends and family in different countries. Although it’s possible to launch an MVP with only the basic features above, the truth is that today’s users expect more. Leading chat apps continue to innovate, adding features that make it easier, faster, and more fun to send and receive messages. It often happens that the instant messaging app development team’s chase after a popular programming language. Not so long ago, messaging apps were created either as chat rooms, , or as an application for calls . However, it is difficult to introduce new functionality or change the structure when there are millions how to create a video streaming website of messenger users. As with Firebase, Socket.io can be an interesting tool to tinker with, but when it comes to developing a scalable commercial chat app, better purpose-built options exist. How To Build A Whatsapp Clone Without Code Having all these requirements ready, you will get an application that meets the needs of users. Some of these roadblocks are technical in nature, while others crop up on the business side. Teams that anticipate the following chat app development challenges in their earliest planning stages will greatly improve their odds for success. If you’re in the process of planning and scoping a chat app project and/or gathering and allocating resources for that project, this comprehensive guide is for you. On our chat creation page, we’ll use another repeating group to display a list of the current users list of contacts. Let’s find the EditText view from our layout and extend Scaledrone’s RoomListener so we could receive messages. The value of another header field, JMSDestination, represents the queue or the topic to which the message is sent. Performance issues detract from the real-time experience of instant messaging, with perceptible latency, undelivered messages, or app crashes frustrating users. Now you’re ready to start structuring the dynamic content that will be displayed within the grid. Factors like cross-platform development, advanced feature requirements, and scalability can quickly multiply the project’s time and cost. But for the sake of setting a baseline, here’s one popular and proven way to go about the build. A world-class team chat experience like Slack also requires a number of https://globalcloudteam.com/ advanced features that other apps can do without. Note that depending on your audience and use case, some of these features may not just be nice to have, but necessary. Api, Protocol Documentation You will need to experiement with number of functions, and be ready to release only with core features of the app. Let’s find the EditText view from our layout and extend Scaledrone’s RoomListener so we could receive messages. Most of the methods will have minimal code in them, and we’ll fill them up as the tutorial goes along. Hiring a developer or dev team to build this app would cost thousands, if not tens-of-thousands of dollars. As you launch and grow in users, our paid plans allow you to host the app on your own custom domain for as little as $25 per month. For example, every message has a unique identifier, which is represented in the header field JMSMessageID. The value of another header field, JMSDestination, represents the queue or the topic to which the message is sent. Writing a chat application with popular web applications stacks like LAMP has normally been very hard. To do that go to the dashboard and click the big green +Create Channel button to get started. Copy the channel ID from the just created channel and replace CHANNEL_ID_FROM_YOUR_SCALEDRONE_DASHBOARD with it. To add the Scaledrone dependency to your app, you need to add it to your build.gradle file. The project might seem daunting at first, but the messaging code outside of the layout files is pretty short. Anyone who has the name of a group can add/remove a channel to the group by name and send a message to all channels in the group. It involves polling the server for changes, keeping track of timestamps, and it’s a lot slower than it should be. After building these core features for your MVP, you’ll become familiar with the process of creating custom data fields and displaying dynamic content. Users drag messages to the left to see timestamps, for example, press and hold a message to access reactions, and drag a conversation to the left to mute or delete it. Over time, some messaging applications lose their leadership positions, giving way to new ones. So, in one year, Skype has moved from the first place, which it held for several years, to fifth. In this article, we will analyze the process of creating a chat application and will try to understand how to build a chat app. It can be helpful to have the steps in the build process mapped out chronologically to avoid overlooking components or dependencies that could cause trouble later. And although some of the details in this process will vary a bit depending on which technical approaches you choose, the high-level order of operations should be fairly consistent. You’re of course free to make your own decisions here, and the process doesn’t necessarily have to be linear. When using a repeating group, you’ll need to first link the element to a data type within your database. You can even select to remember the user and send them an automated confirmation email. Basically, if you will record a video on Android, and will send it to an iOS device without converting – it might not work. Now you’re ready to start structuring the dynamic content that will be displayed within the grid. Simply map out the top column with the relevant content you’d like to show, then this powerful element will populate the remaining columns based on your existing data. A message consumer is an object that is created by a session and used for receiving messages sent to a destination. A connection factory encapsulates a set of connection configuration parameters that has been defined by an administrator. Each connection factory is an instance of the ConnectionFactory, QueueConnectionFactory, or TopicConnectionFactory interface. Sending Messages On the back end, now it’s time to create your user list , initialize a channel, add new messages to the channel, and create a way to display both old and new messages. Your chat server will need to listen for new messages, render existing messages already in the channel, and push new messages from sender to receiver. Here’s what these processes look like if you’re building a one-to-one chat app with JavaScript and Stream. If you want to build android chat app, you might need to add a new button to the client’s interface for emoji and stickers. The easiest way to make user interface and user experience easy to use, and easy to understand is by using native technologies, native design principles, and native design elements. The customer sees familiar elements, knows how to use them, and he has no questions about how to use the messaging app. Repeating groups integrate with your database to display and update a list of dynamic Corporate Mobile Messenger Development content. From here, you’ll then match the input fields from the on-page elements with the necessary fields in your database to create a new user profile. When message delivery begins, the JMS provider automatically calls the message listener’s onMessagemethod whenever a message is delivered. The onMessage method takes one argument of typeMessage, which your implementation of the method can cast to any of the other message types . A message listener is an object that acts as an asynchronous event handler for messages. This object implements the MessageListener interface, which contains one method, onMessage. Differences Between Ios And Android Performance issues detract from the real-time experience of instant messaging, with perceptible latency, undelivered messages, or app crashes frustrating users. The worst-case scenario involves rewriting or refactoring huge swaths of code, diverting valuable dev resources, and incurring massive unplanned costs. Preventing such issues requires both the right architectural decisions and the right infrastructure from the beginning. For front-end components, at a minimum you’ll need to build A) a simple login screen and B) the chat screen where users edit, send, and receive messages, and C) a list of contacts. Other UI features like a navigation menu can be useful if your app is intended to be more complex like Slack or WhatsApp, but may not be necessary if you’re creating an iMessage clone. Some templates and plugins may cost more, but you can build all the functionality of a message app without any additional costs. Factors like cross-platform development, advanced feature requirements, and scalability can quickly multiply the project’s time and cost. We’ll cover the basics here, and you can find a more comprehensive breakdown of how to estimate chat build cost in our article weighing the classic build vs. buy dilemma. The chat app development for iOS or on Android begins with the correct formulation of the business plan, detailed specification, and selection of proper development tools. Besides, you will also need to think about ideas and features that will help your service stand out, and overcome the competition. In this case, for the sake of simplicity we’ll send the message to everyone, including the sender. To send the message to the Scaledrone room we need to add a onClick() handler to the ImageButton in the activity_main.xml file. The chat bubble sent by others within the group chat will be light and aligned to the left. In addition to the bubble itself, we will show an avatar (as a simple full-color circle) and the name of the user.

Good Friday Tenebrae ServiceThe Tenebrae Service is a tradition in the Christian Church that is used in the last days of Holy Week to impress upon the hearts of believers the awful consequences of sin and the magnitude of the Savior’s sacrifice. The word “Tenebrae” means darkness, and indicates the darkness which covered the earth at the time of Christ’s crucifixion. This darkness is visually portrayed in the service through the gradual extinguishing of the candles and other lights in the church. The candles represent the disciples and other followers of the Lord. They all gradually take to flight. The ensuing darkness symbolizes the growing hatred and resentment of the world against the Savior. The large candle represents the Savior Himself. It is removed from the altar to symbolize the death of Jesus. The candle is not extinguished, but is carried out of the Church. (A little while and ye shall not see me” John 16:16.) After the Lord’s Prayer, a time of silence is observed. The silence is broken by the slamming of the Bible to the altar, signifying the closing of the tomb. The benediction is spoken immediately thereafter. After the benediction the congregation will depart in silence. The lights of the church are not turned on. The organ does not play again until Easter morning. The congregation remains seated for the entire service, until the final prayers and benediction. Upon completion of the service, the congregation will please leave in a manner that maintains the spirit of the worship just completed. In order that we may preserve a devotional atmosphere in the narthex also, the pastor will not greet the worshipers, as is usually done. Maundy ThursdayThe Last Supper: A Place for a Feast Mark 14:12-26 And on the first day of Unleavened Bread, when they sacrificed the Passover lamb, his disciples said to him, “Where will you have us go and prepare for you to eat the Passover?” And he sent two of his disciples and said to them, “Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him, and wherever he enters, say to the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says, Where is my guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’ And he will show you a large upper room furnished and ready; there prepare for us.” And the disciples set out and went to the city and found it just as he had told them, and they prepared the Passover. And when it was evening, he came with the twelve. And as they were reclining at table and eating, Jesus said, “Truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me, one who is eating with me.” They began to be sorrowful and to say to him one after another, “Is it I?” He said to them, “It is one of the twelve, one who is dipping bread into the dish with me. For the Son of Man goes as it is written of him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been better for that man if he had not been born.” And as they were eating, he took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to them, and said, “Take; this is my body.” And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, and they all drank of it. And he said to them, “This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many. Truly, I say to you, I will not drink again of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.” And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives. And they offered him wine mixed with myrrh, but he did not take it. And they crucified him and divided his garments among them, casting lots for them, to decide what each should take. And it was the third hour when they crucified him. And the inscription of the charge against him read, “The King of the Jews.” And with him they crucified two robbers, one on his right and one on his left. And those who passed by derided him, wagging their heads and saying, “Aha! You who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself, and come down from the cross!” So also the chief priests with the scribes mocked him to one another, saying, “He saved others; he cannot save himself. Let the Christ, the King of Israel, come down now from the cross that we may see and believe.” Those who were crucified with him also reviled him. And there followed him a great multitude of the people and of women who were mourning and lamenting for him. But turning to them Jesus said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children. For behold, the days are coming when they will say, ‘Blessed are the barren and the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed!’ Then they will begin to say to the mountains, ‘Fall on us,’ and to the hills, ‘Cover us.’ For if they do these things when the wood is green, what will happen when it is dry?” Click here to download the service folder: https://relcs.org/bulletins/latest.pdf Copyright info: Recording and music in today’s service is used with permission under Onelicense, license #A-719913

The Fourth Sunday in LentThe Way to True Greatness is Through Service Mark 10:32-45 And they were on the road, going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus was walking ahead of them. And they were amazed, and those who followed were afraid. And taking the twelve again, he began to tell them what was to happen to him, saying, “See, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death and deliver him over to the Gentiles. And they will mock him and spit on him, and flog him and kill him. And after three days he will rise.” And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came up to him and said to him, “Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask of you.” And he said to them, “What do you want me to do for you?” And they said to him, “Grant us to sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your glory.” Jesus said to them, “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, or to be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?” And they said to him, “We are able.” And Jesus said to them, “The cup that I drink you will drink, and with the baptism with which I am baptized, you will be baptized, but to sit at my right hand or at my left is not mine to grant, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared.” And when the ten heard it, they began to be indignant at James and John. And Jesus called them to him and said to them, “You know that those who are considered rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. But it shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Click here to download the service folder: https://relcs.org/bulletins/latest.pdf Copyright info: Recording and music in today’s service is used with permission under Onelicense, license #A-719913

Midweek Lent Service 4Pilate’s Court: “A Place for a Substitute.” Mark 15:1-15 And as soon as it was morning, the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council. And they bound Jesus and led him away and delivered him over to Pilate. And Pilate asked him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” And he answered him, “You have said so.” And the chief priests accused him of many things. And Pilate again asked him, “Have you no answer to make? See how many charges they bring against you.” But Jesus made no further answer, so that Pilate was amazed. Now at the feast he used to release for them one prisoner for whom they asked. And among the rebels in prison, who had committed murder in the insurrection, there was a man called Barabbas. And the crowd came up and began to ask Pilate to do as he usually did for them. And he answered them, saying, “Do you want me to release for you the King of the Jews?” For he perceived that it was out of envy that the chief priests had delivered him up. But the chief priests stirred up the crowd to have him release for them Barabbas instead. And Pilate again said to them, “Then what shall I do with the man you call the King of the Jews?” And they cried out again, “Crucify him.” And Pilate said to them, “Why, what evil has he done?” But they shouted all the more, “Crucify him.” So Pilate, wishing to satisfy the crowd, released for them Barabbas, and having scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified. The Third Sunday in LentZeal for the Lord’s House John 2:13-22 The Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. In the temple he found those who were selling oxen and sheep and pigeons, and the money-changers sitting there. And making a whip of cords, he drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and oxen. And he poured out the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables. And he told those who sold the pigeons, “Take these things away; do not make my Father’s house a house of trade.” His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for your house will consume me.” So the Jews said to him, “What sign do you show us for doing these things?” Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” The Jews then said, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will you raise it up in three days?” But he was speaking about the temple of his body. When therefore he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the Scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken. Midweek Lent Service 3High Priest’s Palace: “A Place for a Trial and a Verdict” Mark 8:31-38 And they led Jesus to the high priest. And all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes came together. And Peter had followed him at a distance, right into the courtyard of the high priest. And he was sitting with the guards and warming himself at the fire. Now the chief priests and the whole council were seeking testimony against Jesus to put him to death, but they found none. For many bore false witness against him, but their testimony did not agree. And some stood up and bore false witness against him, saying, “We heard him say, ‘I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and in three days I will build another, not made with hands.’ ” Yet even about this their testimony did not agree. And the high priest stood up in the midst and asked Jesus, “Have you no answer to make? What is it that these men testify against you?” But he remained silent and made no answer. Again the high priest asked him, “Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?” And Jesus said, “I am, and you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.” And the high priest tore his garments and said, “What further witnesses do we need? You have heard his blasphemy. What is your decision?” And they all condemned him as deserving death. And some began to spit on him and to cover his face and to strike him, saying to him, “Prophesy!” And the guards received him with blows. Second Sunday in LentThe not -so- secret – secret Mark 8:31-38 And he began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes and be killed, and after three days rise again. And he said this plainly. And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. But turning and seeing his disciples, he rebuked Peter and said, “Get behind me, Satan! For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.” And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it. For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul? For what can a man give in return for his soul? For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of Man also be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.” Click here to download the service folder: https://relcs.org/bulletins/latest.pdf Copyright info: Recording and music in today’s service is used with permission under Onelicense, license #A-719913

Midweek Lent Service 2Gethsemane: A Place of Temptation Mark 14:32-42 And they went to a place called Gethsemane. And he said to his disciples, “Sit here while I pray.” And he took with him Peter and James and John, and began to be greatly distressed and troubled. And he said to them, “My soul is very sorrowful, even to death. Remain here and watch.” And going a little farther, he fell on the ground and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him. And he said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for you. Remove this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.” And he came and found them sleeping, and he said to Peter, “Simon, are you asleep? Could you not watch one hour? Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” And again he went away and prayed, saying the same words. And again he came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were very heavy, and they did not know what to answer him. And he came the third time and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and taking your rest? It is enough; the hour has come. The Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. Rise, let us be going; see, my betrayer is at hand.” Click here to download the service folder: https://relcs.org/bulletins/latest.pdf Copyright info: Recording and music in today’s service is used with permission under Onelicense, license #A-719913

First Sunday in LentUnderstanding the Point of Jesus’ Life Mark 1: 12-15 The Spirit immediately drove him out into the wilderness. And he was in the wilderness forty days, being tempted by Satan. And he was with the wild animals, and the angels were ministering to him. Ash WednesdayThe Upper Room: A Place of Service John 13: 1-17 Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. During supper, when the devil had already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him, Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God and was going back to God, rose from supper. He laid aside his outer garments, and taking a towel, tied it around his waist. Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him. He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Lord, do you wash my feet?” Jesus answered him, “What I am doing you do not understand now, but afterward you will understand.” Peter said to him, “You shall never wash my feet.” Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you have no share with me.” Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, not my feet only but also my hands and my head!” Jesus said to him, “The one who has bathed does not need to wash, except for his feet, but is completely clean. And you are clean, but not every one of you.” For he knew who was to betray him; that was why he said, “Not all of you are clean.” When he had washed their feet and put on his outer garments and resumed his place, he said to them, “Do you understand what I have done to you? You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you. Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them. Transfiguration SundayMark 9:2-9 And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James and John, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them, and his clothes became radiant, intensely white, as no one on earth could bleach them. And there appeared to them Elijah with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus. And Peter said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good that we are here. Let us make three tents, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah.” For he did not know what to say, for they were terrified. And a cloud overshadowed them, and a voice came out of the cloud, “This is my beloved Son; listen to him.” And suddenly, looking around, they no longer saw anyone with them but Jesus only. And as they were coming down the mountain, he charged them to tell no one what they had seen, until the Son of Man had risen from the dead. The 3rd Sunday after the EpiphanyTheme: “The Cross Changes the Way We Live our Lives” Eph 2:11-17 Therefore remember that at one time you Gentiles in the flesh, called “the uncircumcision” by what is called the circumcision, which is made in the flesh by hands— remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility. And he came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near. The Second Sunday after the EpiphanyJohn 1:43-51 The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, “Follow me.” Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found him of whom Moses in the Law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.” Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit!” Nathanael said to him, “How do you know me?” Jesus answered him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.” Nathanael answered him, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!” Jesus answered him, “Because I said to you, ‘I saw you under the fig tree,’ do you believe? You will see greater things than these.” And he said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.” Click here to download the service folder: https://relcs.org/bulletins/latest.pdf Copyright info: Recording and music in today’s service is used with permission under Onelicense, license #A-719913

Stewardship SundayMatthew 25:14-30 “For it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted to them his property. To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Then he went away. He who had received the five talents went at once and traded with them, and he made five talents more. So also he who had the two talents made two talents more. But he who had received the one talent went and dug in the ground and hid his master’s money. Now after a long time the master of those servants came and settled accounts with them. And he who had received the five talents came forward, bringing five talents more, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me five talents; here I have made five talents more.’ His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’ And he also who had the two talents came forward, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me two talents; here I have made two talents more.’ His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’ He also who had received the one talent came forward, saying, ‘Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you scattered no seed, so I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. Here you have what is yours.’ But his master answered him, ‘You wicked and slothful servant! You knew that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I scattered no seed? Then you ought to have invested my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received what was my own with interest. So take the talent from him and give it to him who has the ten talents. For to everyone who has will more be given, and he will have an abundance. But from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. And cast the worthless servant into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ Click here to download the service folder: https://relcs.org/bulletins/latest.pdf Copyright info: Recording and music in today’s service is used with permission under Onelicense, license #A-719913

Epiphany SundayMatthew 2:1-12 Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him; and assembling all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born. They told him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for so it is written by the prophet: “ ‘And you, O Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for from you shall come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.’ ” Then Herod summoned the wise men secretly and ascertained from them what time the star had appeared. And he sent them to Bethlehem, saying, “Go and search diligently for the child, and when you have found him, bring me word, that I too may come and worship him.” After listening to the king, they went on their way. And behold, the star that they had seen when it rose went before them until it came to rest over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. And going into the house they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh. And being warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed to their own country by another way. First Sunday of ChristmasLuke 2:25–40 Now there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon, and this man was righteous and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. And he came in the Spirit into the temple, and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him according to the custom of the Law, he took him up in his arms and blessed God and said, “Lord, now you are letting your servant depart in peace, according to your word; for my eyes have seen your salvation that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to your people Israel.” And his father and his mother marveled at what was said about him. And Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, “Behold, this child is appointed for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign that is opposed (and a sword will pierce through your own soul also), so that thoughts from many hearts may be revealed.” And there was a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was advanced in years, having lived with her husband seven years from when she was a virgin, and then as a widow until she was eighty-four. She did not depart from the temple, worshiping with fasting and prayer night and day. And coming up at that very hour she began to give thanks to God and to speak of him to all who were waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem. And when they had performed everything according to the Law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth. And the child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom. And the favor of God was upon him. Thanksgiving DayReturn and Give Thanks Luke 17:11-19 On the way to Jerusalem he was passing along between Samaria and Galilee. And as he entered a village, he was met by ten lepers, who stood at a distance and lifted up their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.” When he saw them he said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went they were cleansed. Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice; and he fell on his face at Jesus’ feet, giving him thanks. Now he was a Samaritan. Then Jesus answered, “Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine? Christ the King SundayWhen the King Returns Luke 19:11-27 As they heard these things, he proceeded to tell a parable, because he was near to Jerusalem, and because they supposed that the kingdom of God was to appear immediately. He said therefore, “A nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and then return. Calling ten of his servants, he gave them ten minas, and said to them, ‘Engage in business until I come.’ But his citizens hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying, ‘We do not want this man to reign over us.’ When he returned, having received the kingdom, he ordered these servants to whom he had given the money to be called to him, that he might know what they had gained by doing business. The first came before him, saying, ‘Lord, your mina has made ten minas more.’ And he said to him, ‘Well done, good servant! Because you have been faithful in a very little, you shall have authority over ten cities.’ And the second came, saying, ‘Lord, your mina has made five minas.’ And he said to him, ‘And you are to be over five cities.’ Then another came, saying, ‘Lord, here is your mina, which I kept laid away in a handkerchief; for I was afraid of you, because you are a severe man. You take what you did not deposit, and reap what you did not sow.’ He said to him, ‘I will condemn you with your own words, you wicked servant! You knew that I was a severe man, taking what I did not deposit and reaping what I did not sow? Why then did you not put my money in the bank, and at my coming I might have collected it with interest?’ And he said to those who stood by, ‘Take the mina from him, and give it to the one who has the ten minas.’ And they said to him, ‘Lord, he has ten minas!’ ‘I tell you that to everyone who has, more will be given, but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. But as for these enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here and slaughter them before me.’ ” Click here to download the service folder: https://relcs.org/bulletins/latest.pdf Copyright info: Recording and music in today’s service is used with permission under Onelicense, license #A-719913

Festival of the ReformationCling To God – Daniel 6:10–12,16–23 When Daniel knew that the document had been signed, he went to his house where he had windows in his upper chamber open toward Jerusalem. He got down on his knees three times a day and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as he had done previously. Then these men came by agreement and found Daniel making petition and plea before his God. Then they came near and said before the king, concerning the injunction, “O king! Did you not sign an injunction, that anyone who makes petition to any god or man within thirty days except to you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions?” The king answered and said, “The thing stands fast, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which cannot be revoked.” Then the king commanded, and Daniel was brought and cast into the den of lions. The king declared to Daniel, “May your God, whom you serve continually, deliver you!” And a stone was brought and laid on the mouth of the den, and the king sealed it with his own signet and with the signet of his lords, that nothing might be changed concerning Daniel. Then the king went to his palace and spent the night fasting; no diversions were brought to him, and sleep fled from him. Then, at break of day, the king arose and went in haste to the den of lions. As he came near to the den where Daniel was, he cried out in a tone of anguish. The king declared to Daniel, “O Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions?” Then Daniel said to the king, “O king, live forever! My God sent his angel and shut the lions’ mouths, and they have not harmed me, because I was found blameless before him; and also before you, O king, I have done no harm.” Then the king was exceedingly glad, and commanded that Daniel be taken up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no kind of harm was found on him, because he had trusted in his God. The Twenty-first Sunday after PentecostMy Time is Your Time! — Matthew 22:1-14 And again Jesus spoke to them in parables, saying, “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a wedding feast for his son, and sent his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding feast, but they would not come. Again he sent other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, “See, I have prepared my dinner, my oxen and my fat calves have been slaughtered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding feast.” ’ But they paid no attention and went off, one to his farm, another to his business, while the rest seized his servants, treated them shamefully, and killed them. The king was angry, and he sent his troops and destroyed those murderers and burned their city. Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding feast is ready, but those invited were not worthy. Go therefore to the main roads and invite to the wedding feast as many as you find.’ And those servants went out into the roads and gathered all whom they found, both bad and good. So the wedding hall was filled with guests. “But when the king came in to look at the guests, he saw there a man who had no wedding garment. And he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you get in here without a wedding garment?’ And he was speechless. Then the king said to the attendants, ‘Bind him hand and foot and cast him into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ For many are called, but few are chosen.” Click here to download the service folder: https://relcs.org/bulletins/102520.pdf Copyright info: Recording and music in today’s service is used with permission under Onelicense, license #A-719913

The Twentieth Sunday after PentecostPentecost 20 SERMON — Isaiah 5:1–7 Let me sing for my beloved my love song concerning his vineyard: My beloved had a vineyard on a very fertile hill. He dug it and cleared it of stones, and planted it with choice vines; he built a watchtower in the midst of it, and hewed out a wine vat in it; and he looked for it to yield grapes, but it yielded wild grapes. And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem and men of Judah, judge between me and my vineyard. What more was there to do for my vineyard, that I have not done in it? When I looked for it to yield grapes, why did it yield wild grapes? And now I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard. I will remove its hedge, and it shall be devoured; I will break down its wall, and it shall be trampled down. I will make it a waste; it shall not be pruned or hoed, and briers and thorns shall grow up; I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it. For the vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah are his pleasant planting; and he looked for justice, but behold, bloodshed; for righteousness, but behold, an outcry! The Twelfth Sunday after PentecostLord, Save Me! Text: Matthew 14:22–33 Immediately he made the disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowds. And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone, but the boat by this time was a long way from the land, beaten by the waves, for the wind was against them. And in the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea. But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, “It is a ghost!” and they cried out in fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.” And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.” Click here to download the service folder: https://relcs.org/bulletins/8232020.pdf Copyright info: Recording and music in today’s service is used with permission under Onelicense, license #A-719913

The Sixth Sunday After Pentecost - THE GATEWAY TO A FULL LIFEIt’s alarming how many Bible passages are used out of context to prove a point God never intended. For example, “The Lord helps those who help themselves.” Did I trap you? That’s not even a Bible passage. But it demonstrates the point. Quote something religious and whatever is said thereafter is assumed to carry divine weight. Perhaps the classic misuse of Scripture is quoting Revelation chapter 3 verse 20 to support the false notion that non-Christians have the innate ability to make faith’s decision for Christ. The Savior does say: “Beloved, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.” But those poetic words were addressed, not to non-Christians, but to a Christian Church whose spiritual life was waning. I think the most flagrant abuse of Scripture in this generation is what has been done with John chapter 10 verse 10. “I have come that they might have abundant life.” Did Jesus really say that? Not exactly. That’s the way the verse sounds when so many of today’s fast-talking salesmen of success use it. You’ve probably heard the media manipulators of religion promising happiness success and material abundance in the name of Jesus and on the basis of John 10 verse 10. But what DID Jesus say? Let’s hear that verse in its context, as our we examine the truth Jesus tells us about THE GATEWAY TO A FULL LIFE. The Fifth Sunday after PentecostToday’s Lesson is the second in our Study on John 10 – On Good Shepherd Sunday we were urged to Relax in our Good Shepherd, Today we want to see our Good Shepherd as our Leader, Next Sunday we will more fully explore the Full Life He provides. Everyday you have to choose whom you are going to follow. The lesson from John’s 10th chapter today is that it is important to follow good leaders. Usually that will mean parents, although there are exceptions. Usually that will mean good friends and peers, although there are also exceptions. Usually that will mean Christian pastors and teachers, although, even then, there are exceptions. But there is one leader with whom there is no exception, there is one leader after whom all these other leaders are to be mere models, and that one leader is Christ Jesus. Let the Bible explain why. There are three compelling reasons from John 10. Copyright info: Recording and music in today’s service is used with permission under Onelicense, license #A-719913

The Fourth Sunday after PentecostToday’s message reminds us that the ground-level reason and heart-level motivation for our life is to glorify God. That should be especially true of the Christian family. So today we pray: FATHER, GLORIFY YOUR NAME IN THE CHRISTIAN FAMILY. There are two significant chapters in the New Testament on the moral values and relationships of the Christian family. Ephesians chapter five begins with the appeal to be “imitators of God” because Jesus sacrificed himself to make us dearly loved children of God. We are God’s family, first, and honor our Father by doing life his way. Then the apostle Paul makes an extended appeal for sexual purity and urges glorifying God together with worship and thanksgiving as the reason for the Christian lifestyle. The chapter concludes with the familiar comparison of marriage to the relationship of Christ and the Church, with “reverence for Christ” as the motivation for wives submitting to their husbands and husbands giving themselves up for their wives. The parent-child relationship which follows begins: “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.” Think about it. The basis for Christian family life is God’s love, and the reason for Christian family life is God’s glory. Similarly, Colossians chapter three begins with the reminder that our life is wrapped up in Jesus Christ and destined for glory with him, as the basis for St. Paul’s appeal to sexual purity. Again the apostle returns to our status as God’s dearly loved children, whose forgiving love is modeled after God’s forgiving love and whose relationships are given purpose in thankful worship of God. Only then does the apostle conclude the chapter with moral imperatives for marriage and parenting. Do you see the pattern? Christian family life is based on God’s love and directed toward God’s glory. Alcohol: Does it affect blood pressure?Content How alcohol affects blood pressure Why Mixing Beta-Blockers and Alcohol Is a Bad Idea Cox 1993 published data only Related to High Blood Pressure Kawano 2000 published data only Healthline has strict sourcing guidelines and relies on peer-reviewed studies, academic research institutions, and medical associations. The result is that your heart doesn’t have to work as hard https://ecosoberhouse.com/ and is more efficient, which lowers your blood pressure. K Health has strict sourcing guidelines and relies on peer-reviewed studies, academic research institutions, and medical associations. Does Watermelon Reduce High Blood Pressure Vodka Lowers Blood Pressure « The Link News – The Link News Does Watermelon Reduce High Blood Pressure Vodka Lowers Blood Pressure « The Link News. Posted: Mon, 31 Oct 2022 02:34:04 GMT [source] Lack of exercise and an inactive lifestyle can contribute to the development of high blood pressure, and studies have shown that physical activity helps control blood pressure. A 2006 study published in Alcohol and Alcoholism assessed blood pressure during alcohol withdrawal for 147 detoxing patients daily for 18 days. This study found a sharp and sustained decrease in blood pressure once the patient moved through the peak of withdrawal symptoms. The relationship between alcohol and the heart is still being actively studied and debated. How alcohol affects blood pressure As for binge drinking , younger men are more likely to experience high blood pressure from excess alcohol use than young women. But stroke risk can increase in men and women of all ages who binge drink regularly. Studies have found that chronic heavy drinking increases nitric oxide in the body, which does alcohol decrease blood pressure is a vasodilator and relaxes the blood vessels. This, in turn, results in a sudden and temporary drop in blood pressure. The body then tries to compensate for this drop by raising blood pressure. This process is thought to be a contributor to the development of hypertension caused by alcohol. If you have high blood pressure you should limit alcohol to two or fewer drinks a day for men and one or less for women. Excessive amounts of alcohol can raise blood pressure to unhealthy levels. In fact, according to the American Heart Association, “heavy and regular use of alcohol can increase blood pressure dramatically. Participants and selected study design characteristics of the 15 clinical trials included in our meta-analysis are presented in Table 1. The trials, which were conducted between 1984 to 1996, varied in sample size from 10 to 909 participants. Why Mixing Beta-Blockers and Alcohol Is a Bad Idea DBP was not significantly affected up to 12 hours after drinking a high dose of alcohol, but there was a statistically significant increase in DBP during the ≥ 13 hour time interval after alcohol consumption. We used Cochrane review manager software for all data analyses (Review Manager ). We considered statistical, clinical, and methodological heterogeneity between study populations and proceeded with the meta‐analysis if only we considered interventions, comparisons, and outcome measures similar enough to pool. When trials compared more than one dose of alcohol, we handled each comparison separately. Because all of our outcomes of interest provided continuous data, we used the inverse variance approach and a fixed‐effect model to combine effect sizes across studies. All randomised controlled trials that compared alcohol to placebo or similar tasting non‐alcoholic beverages were included in this systematic review. Blood pressure is a measurement of how hard the blood is pushing against the walls of the blood vessels as the heart pumps blood. It causes a drop in blood pressure right after drinking and then an increase in blood pressure around 12 hours after drinking. In fact, according to the American Heart Association, “heavy and regular use of alcohol can increase blood pressure dramatically. Heavy drinkers who want to lower blood pressure should slowly reduce how much they drink over 1-2 weeks with medical supervision. In Figure 9, Figure 10, and Figure 11, we observed slight asymmetry in the funnel plot that was probably due to heterogeneity rather than to publication bias. People dealing with hypertension should also be aware that alcohol and blood pressure medications usually shouldn’t be mixed. Similarly, there was only one trial in people with hypertension who consumed three or fewer drinks per day. Because of the public health importance of both alcohol consumption and hypertension, there is an urgent need for additional research to clarify the effect of alcohol intake in people with hypertension at low alcohol intake and in women. Alcohol has been a part of almost every human culture for a very long time . According to the World Health Organization , around 2.3 billion people globally drink alcohol, and most of them are from the European region. On average, drinkers consume 32.8 grams of pure alcohol per day, and beer (34.3%) is the most consumed alcoholic beverage . In the United States, 14 grams of pure alcohol is considered as one standard drink or one unit, and the maximum daily limit for men and women is four and three drinks, respectively . Cox 1993 published data only Prevention and reduction of excessive use of alcohol represents damages to society in general. In turn, arterial hypertension is the main attributable risk factor premature life lost years and disability. The exact reason that alcohol raises blood pressure is not entirely known. Healthline has strict sourcing guidelines and relies on peer-reviewed studies, academic research institutions, and medical associations. In some cases, hypertension can be reversed through lifestyle changes, such as eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly, and reducing or eliminating alcohol intake. However, new research finds that both moderate and heavy drinking can cause spikes in blood pressure and increase the risk of more serious medical conditions over time. Excessive drinking can lead to hypertension either directly or indirectly, and it is estimated that about 10% of high blood pressure² cases in the general population can be linked to alcohol. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention defines moderate drinking as one drink per day for women and two drinks per day for men. The implications of these findings are contrary to the desired advances in the control of alcohol consumption. The goal of reducing abusive alcohol consumption is compromised by this increase. There is agreement in the literature regarding the association of excessive consumption of alcohol with BP levels . Related to High Blood Pressure Despite this finding, women should try not to engage in binge drinking. While alcohol does contribute to high blood pressure, it may be safe to use small amounts of alcohol. Men are more likely than women to have high blood pressure, the CDC says. Early hypertension usually doesn’t bring on noticeable symptoms, but in the absence of treatment, the condition can eventually lead to heart attack and stroke. Kawano 2000 published data only Both reviewers rated the certainty of evidence independently by examining risk of bias, indirectness, inconsistency, imprecision, and publication bias. We independently screened the citations found through the database search using Covidence software . We excluded articles if the citation seemed completely irrelevant or was identified as a review or observational study after the title and abstract were read. For remaining studies, we retrieved full‐text articles for further assessment. Any disagreements regarding inclusion or exclusion of studies were resolved by discussion between review authors. The underlying cause of portal hypertension in most chronic heavy drinkers is an advanced form of liver disease called cirrhosis. Those who cut back to moderate drinking can lower their top number in a blood pressure reading by about 2-4 millimeters of mercury and their bottom number by about 1-2 mm Hg. The effect has been found to be more likely due to either lifestyle factors or the grapes that red wine contains, not the alcohol. We are moderately certain that medium‐dose alcohol decreased blood pressure and increased heart rate within six hours of consumption. When blood pressure decreases, these receptors help minimize how much the blood vessels stretch to increase blood pressure.
