All boys and girls in 3rd – 8th grade have the opportunity to play slow pitch softball. This softball season takes place during the beginning of the school year and ends in the middle of September. Practices are conducted during recess and P.E. classes. The season consists of a couple of games and ends with the C.A.L.L. Softball Tournament that is located at Lippold Park in Crystal Lake, IL in early September.
All boys and girls in 4th – 8th grade have the opportunity to play soccer. The season consists of games being played during the months of August, September and October against teams from the C.A.L.L. and also against teams from around the Aurora area. Practices and games will be held after school on various days of the week. To end the season, a league tournament is held at Resurrection during the month of October.
All boys and girls in 4th – 8th grade have the opportunity to participate in basketball. The regular season games are held throughout the week in the months of December, January, and February. The season consists of games being played against teams from around the Aurora area.
After the regular basketball season, there is coed basketball season. All boys and girls in 6th-8th have the opportunity to participate. This season runs from February and into early March against teams from the C.A.L.L. The season ends with a tournament held at Luther Preparatory School in Watertown, Wisconsin.
All boys and girls in 4th – 8th grade have the opportunity to participate in track. Students will begin to practice towards the end of March and into May during P.E. and recess time. The season concludes with one meet that is hosted by the Chicago Area Lutheran League. This meet will take place in May and is located at Timothy Christian Schools in Elmhurst.
Our 4th – 8th grade students have the opportunity to participate in the C.A.L.L. (Chicago Area Lutheran League) SpBAM (Spelling, Bible, Art & Math) competition in April of each school year. Mr. Essig and Mr. Wagner select students to participate in the individual and team events. Students who compete in the math competition take individual tests and also participate in the team competition. There are a wide variety of art categories to choose from and students are allowed to submit two projects they create during the school year.
Our 4th – 8th grade students are required to participate in forensics at Resurrection. This is a great opportunity for our students to work on their public speaking skills. Students practice during the school day with teachers and volunteers. Each student performs his/her piece at our forensics night in October. Students also have the opportunity in October, if they so choose, to go to Illinois Lutheran High School in Crete, IL to participate in the C.A.L.L. (Chicago Area Lutheran League) forensics meet. Here they have the opportunity to participate against our area Lutheran grades schools as individuals and as a team.
Resurrection Lutheran School offers students in 2nd through 8th grade with the opportunity of weekly piano lessons. The lessons are provided by Mrs. Engelbrecht during the school day each Tuesday and Thursday. Opportunities are given to advanced students to play during chapel. The year will culminate with a Spring Piano Recital.
